- AM – Amplitude Modulation
- Amplifier – A circuit that boosts the strength or voltage of a transmission
- Amplitude – The strength or size of a signal
- Analogue – A method of transmitting data. An Analogue waveform carries actual likeness with the volume it represents
- Anamorphic – Employed to distinguish a 16 x 9 image which fills up the entire frame, from a 16 x 9 letterbox with empty lines at the very top & bottom of your frame. The United States fails to identify anamorphic within the perspective of TV – their comparable phrase is 16 x 9 Full Frame
- Antenna - A Product which may acquire and or send radio frequency impulses whose formatting is dependent upon the kind of impulses used
- ASA – Authorised Sky Agent – An independent Satellite engineer & supplier who is authorised by BSkyB

- Attenuation – The reduction in strength of signals involving receptors and transmitters
- Attenuator – An inactive gadget that reduces transmission strength
- Azimuth – The side to side route conveyed as the angular range between the route of a fixed position, and the path of the subject.
- Balun - Is a balance-to-unbalance transformer (sometimes a fundamental element of an aerial) accustomed to match an unbalanced coaxial cable to some balanced device just like an aerial dipole or receiver input.
- Bandwidth – The entire selection of wavelengths occupied within a signal. It's usually measured by half-energy points.
- Baseband – A range of wavelengths that contains information after demodulation.
- Beamwidth - An aerial acceptance position measured between half- energy points.
- Benchmark – A certificate from an accredited authority.
- BER – Bit Error Ratio.
- Blue Tooth – Radio wave system used to communicate between devices over a short area.
- Boresight - The key centre axis of the aerial or satellite dish antenna.
- Bouquet – A group of programmes in a multiplex.
- Braid - The intertwined outer conductive layer of coaxial cable comprised of several bare conductors uniting to create a solid or nearly solid layer or shield. Braid is ranked by number of coverage by pixels per inch. Pixels per inch indicate the amount of crossings from the braid in a single inch of cable.
